Effective date: 20 August 2026 · Version 2.0
Welcome to FODMAPP. These terms of use form a binding agreement between you and Telemark Software Solutions AS («FODMAPP», «we», «us») for your use of the FODMAPP app and website. By tapping «Accept» in the app, creating an account, or continuing to use the app, you agree to these terms. Please read them together with our
Privacy Policy, which explains how we process your personal data – including information about your diet, digestion and symptoms. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the app.
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
FODMAPP is developed and operated by Telemark Software Solutions AS, a limited company registered in Norway. We are the data controller for the personal data processed in the app. These terms apply to the FODMAPP mobile app, our website and all related features and content. You can reach us at
[email protected] or via
www.fodmapp.com.
Org. no.: 936 367 194Registered address: Γstli 15, 3718 Skien, Norway
2. What FODMAPP is – and what it is not
FODMAPP is an AI-powered app that helps you find your way around the low-FODMAP diet through AI chat, camera analysis and barcode scanning. The app provides general dietary information and educational guidance.
FODMAPP is an information and lifestyle tool. It is not a medical device, and it is not intended for the diagnosis, prevention, monitoring, prediction, prognosis, treatment or alleviation of any disease, injury or disability. The app does not diagnose irritable bowel syndrome or any other condition, does not measure anything in your body, and does not provide individual medical treatment or clinical nutrition therapy.
3. No medical advice
The content in FODMAPP is general information and must not be regarded as medical, dietary or other health-related professional advice. No patient relationship arises between you and us, and we do not provide health services.
Always consult a doctor or a clinical dietitian before you start, change or end a diet – and in particular if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, are under 18, or have or suspect a condition such as an eating disorder, diabetes, coeliac disease, inflammatory bowel disease or an allergy. Never postpone seeking medical attention because of something you have read in the app. In an emergency, contact the emergency services in your country.
4. Limitations of AI-generated content
Answers, assessments and scores in the app are generated by artificial intelligence and may be incomplete, outdated or simply wrong. FODMAP content varies with brand, recipe, portion size, ripeness and preparation method, and research in the field changes. The FODMAP score from 0 to 100 is an indicative aid, not a measurement result.
Barcode scanning uses product data from third parties, including Open Food Facts, which is contributed by volunteers and which we neither control nor can verify. Always check the actual packaging for ingredients and allergen information.
FODMAPP is not an allergen-detection tool. If you have an allergy or intolerance where exposure can be dangerous, you must never rely on the app alone.
5. Age requirement and your account
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account and use FODMAPP. If the law in your country sets a higher age for consenting to the processing of health data, that higher age applies.
You can create an account using email and password, Google Sign-In or Apple Sign-In. You must provide correct information, keep your login credentials confidential and not share your account with others. One account per person. You are responsible for all activity carried out under your account, and you must notify us without undue delay at
[email protected] if you suspect unauthorised use.
6. Free trial and FODMAPP Plus
New users get a time-limited free trial period with full access to the app’s features. The trial period is currently 14 days. When the trial period expires, continued access to the AI features requires a FODMAPP Plus subscription.
The trial period is available once per user and per Apple ID or Google account, and may not be used repeatedly by creating new accounts. We may change the length of the trial period, or withdraw it, for new users.
Which features are included and the current prices are always shown in the app before you make a purchase, and the current fair-use limits are shown in the app. We deliberately do not state usage limits in these terms, because they may be adjusted over time in accordance with section 9.
7. Purchase, renewal, cancellation and refunds
Subscriptions are sold as in-app purchases through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Your purchase agreement is entered into with Apple or Google, who act as seller and handle payment, receipts, renewals and refunds. We deliver the service itself.
Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial period or the current subscription period expires, the subscription renews automatically and the app store charges the price applicable at that time. You can cancel at any time under subscription settings in your App Store or Google Play account. Cancelling stops future renewals, and you keep access for the remainder of the period you have paid for. Note that deleting the app does not in itself cancel a subscription.
Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own terms. We are not able to process refunds for purchases made through the app stores.
8. Right of withdrawal for consumers
As a consumer in the EEA you normally have a 14-day right of withdrawal when purchasing digital services. Because access is made available immediately, you expressly request that performance begins at once when you start using the service, and you acknowledge that the right of withdrawal lapses once the service has been fully performed.
For purchases made through the Apple App Store or Google Play, withdrawal and refund requests are handled under the terms of the relevant app store. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected by this section.
9. Changes to the service, usage limits and prices
We develop FODMAPP continuously and may add, change or remove features, and set or adjust fair-use limits in order to ensure stable operation, manage costs and prevent misuse.
We will not materially reduce the core functionality you have already paid for during a period already paid for. For other material changes to your disadvantage, we will give you at least 30 days’ notice in the app or by email, and you may cancel the subscription before the change takes effect.
Price changes for existing subscriptions follow the rules of Apple and Google, which in a number of cases require your active consent before a new price may be charged.
10. Emails, notifications and marketing
Service messages. When you hold an account with us, we send you the messages necessary to perform our agreement with you and to operate the service safely. These include a welcome email with getting-started information when you become a paying subscriber, password and security notifications, important operational and outage notices, and notices of changes to these terms or the Privacy Policy. Receipts for purchases are issued by Apple or Google. These messages form part of the service. You cannot opt out of them for as long as you hold an account, but they stop when you delete your account.
Before a trial converts. We do not send our own reminder before a free trial period ends. Apple and Google notify you themselves before the trial converts into a paid subscription, and you can cancel at any time in your App Store or Google Play account.
Marketing. We send our newsletter with low-FODMAP tips, recipes, news about new features and offers only if you switch it on under «Newsletter by email» in the app’s settings. It is off by default, it is given separately from your acceptance of these terms, it is voluntary, and it is not a condition for creating an account or using FODMAPP. You may switch it off again at any time in the same place, or use the unsubscribe link included in every marketing email. Withdrawing your consent does not affect your access to the app, and it does not stop the service messages described above.
In-app messages. We may display messages inside the app. The app does not send push notifications from our servers; any reminders you set up are scheduled locally on your device and can be turned off in the app or in your device settings.
11. Acceptable use
You undertake to use FODMAPP lawfully and responsibly. You must not:
- upload or share content that is illegal, offensive, harassing, misleading or infringes the rights of others;
- upload personal data or health information about other people unless you are lawfully entitled to do so;
- use the app in an attempt to obtain a medical diagnosis or as a substitute for healthcare;
- reverse engineer, decompile, modify or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the app or our systems;
- use bots, scripts, scraping or other automated methods to access the service;
- resell, sublicense, lend out or share your access with others;
- circumvent usage limits, trial period restrictions, payment mechanisms or technical protection measures;
- overload, disrupt or test the security of our systems without our written consent; or
- use content or output from the app to build a competing service or to train machine-learning models.
12. Your content and the licence you grant us
You retain your rights to the photographs, text and other content you submit to the app. In order for us to be able to deliver the service, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence, valid worldwide, to host, store, reproduce, transmit, adapt and process your content, and to share it with our data processors – including our AI provider – solely for the purpose of delivering, securing and supporting the service. The licence lasts for as long as necessary for those purposes and ends when the content is deleted.
We may produce and use fully anonymised, aggregated statistics that cannot be linked back to you, in order to improve, document and further develop the service. We do not use your content to train our own AI models. Our AI provider processes your content on our behalf; see the
Privacy Policy for details.
13. Intellectual property
All rights in the app, including source code, design, user interface, text, illustrations, databases, prompts, AI configuration, the FODMAPP name and logo, belong to Telemark Software Solutions AS or our licensors. You are granted a limited, personal, non-transferable and revocable right to use the app for your own private, non-commercial purposes. You are not granted any rights beyond those expressly stated in these terms, and you may not copy, modify, distribute or make the app or its content available to others without our written consent.
14. Third-party services and availability
FODMAPP relies on third-party services, including the Apple App Store and Google Play, Google Firebase, Google’s Gemini models via Firebase AI Logic and Vertex AI, RevenueCat for subscription management, Resend for email delivery, Open Food Facts for product data, the OpenStreetMap Overpass service for the toilet finder, and external content networks for fonts and animations. These providers have their own terms, and we are not responsible for their content, accuracy or availability.
The app requires an internet connection. We aim for stable operation, but we do not guarantee that the service will be available without interruption, free of errors or accessible at all times. Maintenance, updates, operational incidents and faults in third-party services or in your own device or network may affect availability.
15. Suspension and termination
You may stop using FODMAPP at any time. You can delete your account yourself in the app under
Profile → Danger zone; see also the
Delete account page.
We may suspend or terminate your access with immediate effect in the event of a material breach of these terms, unlawful use, fraud, misuse of trial periods or payment mechanisms, chargebacks, or where your use poses a risk to security, to other users or to the operation of the service. In other cases we may terminate the agreement on reasonable prior notice.
On termination your right to use the app ceases. We delete or anonymise your personal data in accordance with the Privacy Policy, subject to any statutory retention obligations. Provisions that by their nature are intended to survive – including those on intellectual property, limitation of liability and governing law – continue to apply after termination.
16. Disclaimer and limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, the app is provided «as is» and «as available», without warranties of any kind as to accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose or results.
You are responsible for your own dietary choices. We are not liable for decisions you make on the basis of content in the app, nor for symptoms, health outcomes, allergic reactions, financial loss or other loss arising from your reliance on AI-generated guidance without verifying critical information yourself.
To the extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim or series of related claims is limited to the higher of the amount you have paid for the service in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to liability, or NOK 1,000. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost profit, lost savings, loss of data or damage to reputation.
If you use the app in breach of these terms or applicable law, you are responsible for the loss this causes, and for third-party claims attributable to that use.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law. This includes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for gross negligence or wilful misconduct, and your non-waivable rights as a consumer. If you are a consumer, the mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence apply regardless of this section.
17. Force majeure
Neither party is liable for failure to perform its obligations where this is due to circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including natural events, fire, war, terrorism, sabotage, cyber attacks, pandemics, labour disputes, failures in power supply or electronic communications, decisions of public authorities, or the failure or discontinuation of essential third-party services.
18. Privacy and health data
We process personal data as described in our
Privacy Policy, which forms an integral part of this agreement.
Because FODMAPP processes information about your diet, digestion and symptoms, we process
health data, which is a special category of personal data. Such processing takes place on the basis of your
explicit consent, which you give separately in the app and may withdraw at any time. If you withdraw your consent, we can no longer provide the features that depend on that processing, and the agreement may be terminated for that reason.
19. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example as a result of new features, changes in our subscription model, or changes in law.
In the case of material changes, we will notify you in the app or by email, and you will be asked to accept the new terms before you continue using the app. If you do not wish to accept them, you may stop using the app and have your account deleted. Minor changes that do not affect your rights – such as clarifications, corrections of typing errors, updated contact details or updated legal references – take effect when they are published. The effective date and version number are shown at the top of this page.
20. Governing law, complaints and disputes
These terms are governed by Norwegian law, without prejudice to the mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence.
If you are dissatisfied, please contact us first at
[email protected] so that we can try to resolve the matter. Consumers in Norway may bring a complaint to the Norwegian Consumer Authority (Forbrukertilsynet) or seek advice from the Norwegian Consumer Council (Forbrukerrådet). Consumers elsewhere in the EEA may contact their national consumer body or use the European Commission’s online dispute resolution platform.
Disputes that are not resolved amicably may be brought before the Norwegian courts.
If you are a consumer, you may always bring proceedings before the courts of your own country of residence, and legal action may only be brought against you there.
